The winged angel may be perceived as a flower opening, the sacred and special experiences in life unfolding like petals under her cloak Fern Petrie is a New Zealand artist who currently lives in Perth, Australia. Since graduating from Auckland University in 2001 with a BFA Fern has undertaken a number of solo exhibitions which showcase her diversity and artistic interests. These exhibitions incorporated many media including painting, printmaking and doll making. Her first international exhibition ‘Remembrances, Collections and Keepsakes’ was held at the Moores Building, Perth in May and brought together pieces from each previous exhibition as well as new works focusing on Victorian portraiture, symbolism and the impact Australia has had on her artistic progress. Now Fern is working on new projects between Australia and New Zealand. |
