 Title: Cedar Lodge Medium: oil on canvas Dimmensions: 152.5 x 152.5cm Karl Maughan paints the wide open spaces and lushness of gardens found in New Zealand. Maughan’s works are painted in oil, often on a huge scale, with a small painterly brush strokes. The result are works that move between the technical virtuosity of the super realists and the tactile pleasures of expressionism. After 10 years in London, Maughan lives in Grey Lynn. In 1998 two works were purchased for the highly prestigious Charles Saatchi collection (UK) with a number of further major commissions internationally resulting from this. Karl has two children at Richmond Road School. |
